CHRISTMAS BREAK!!!!!!

was supposed to blog about my trip to colmar and strasbourg christmas market with solene, joey and asami. but i forgot to get the photos from solene. next year!

haha. it's so weird to bid my classmates with 'see you next year'. cos it's still two weeks before i turn 21!! yes. i have to mention it. i'm FINALLY turning 21! it feels weird to write 20 when i'm required to write details of myself. i sometimes can't really imagine i'm only 20. hee hee.. cos there's really been much happening in my life this year.

2007 is memorable. i thank my dear family members and friends for everything. but before it ends, i'm gg to have even more memories these last two weeks! it's the christmas break!! will be away in eastern europe with xw, and meeting ziming for a short time in between. we spent so long planning.. it's finally happening. i wish that everything will go great for us. skiing on sat with my czech friend. CANNOT wait!!!!!

unless i have internet excess and can blog/upload photos, i guess my next post will be next year! and till then, to all, MERRY CHRISTMAS and HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!!

Politics + Mathematics = ???

Due to the limited number of modules I can take (that match NUS modules), I took up Political Representation in Uni Konstanz. The main reason is also because it is taught in English. This course is graded based on a presentation and a term paper.

On my first lesson, I told my lecturer that I might have problems with this course (meaning presentation and term paper) because I have no background on Politics. He asked for my major and very kindly offered me a text related to Mathematics to present.

Most people cringe at the point when they find out that I study Mathematics. Indeed, Mathematics is tough. I suck at it and I haven't been doing well ever since I entered NUS. But at least, I can do it better than my Arts subjects.

So now, add Mathematics and Politics together, TADA! you get a freaking-out peiyu. I've been reading the text for a week, and i cannot comprehend it 100%. How am I suppose to get the idea across to a class of 20 Politics students? FAINTZ.

Good Luck to me. I have one more week before presentation day.

learning german..

it's been 4 months plus since i left Changi airport. my German improved with a steep learning curve in August and September. However, the curve has plateaued ever since... SUCKS.

short term goal from now till January 9th (my interview date): bring the gradient of that curve up again.

enriching sunday

After sending tonnes of applications to companies all over Germany, I was told straight in the face today that my cover letter is one that a manager will probably chuck one side after looking at it for 3 seconds. *BANG* it felt like getting one tight slap on the face. Nevertheless, today was an enriching experience.

Two weeks ago, I started chatting randomly with this lady after my fitness class. She offered to help me find out more about internships in Germany. It turns out that the field that I intend to go to offers alot of placements, and it is impossible for me not to find one. So, she offered to introduce her friend to me.

I went to her house today, and met her friend. After an hour of discussion, I finally understood what it meant by a good CV and cover letter. Here are the three main points that I want to share. When writing a cover letter:

1. Who are you?
2. What do you propose?
3. What do you have to offer?

It was simple and clear. I now have a German cover letter template all set!

On hindsight, I received ONE interview invitation. It rocked my world. Effort pays off. I shall persevere!

Late Night Cravings...

i was up late on last wednesday night and suddenly, i had a craving for maggi mee. so on friday, i decided that i will pamper myself. I went to the asian shop and came back with THIS!

3 minutes! and i got this!

it feels rather weird. cos in singapore, instant noodles are available everywhere with so many varieties and stuff. we buy them in packets of 6. here, they are sold in individual packets. more or less considered a luxury good.

oh well, it's a brand new week! and it's DECEMBER!!! entering into my fifth month in Europe. this month is gonna be short. cos it's CHRISTMAS!!!! christmas here is like chinese new year back home. there are christmas markets in every city, no matter how small it is. and they go on till christmas itself. think chinatown during CNY. can't wait to go stroll down the streets with those pretty lights and bask in the wonders of a european christmas.
