it was a great night out for me. haven't gone for a party since the one i had in end august las year. come to think of it, it's almost been 5-6 months.
anyway, it was yvonne's farewell party. the other singaporean girl who also did her exchange in konstanz. felt great meeting up with familiar faces whom i've not spoken to for almost the whole semester. but as she holds this party, it also kinds of serve as a reminder for me that it's gg to be the end of my exchange too.. i am gg to miss konstanz so much. the lake, the wonderful friends i've made.
sobz sobz... i hope i can meet up with everyone before i leave! not that i had ALOT of friends, but still got a few at least. it's going to be a hectic month of february. next week, we have fastnacht! it's gg to be interesting. i'm looking forward to it. hopefully it'll be as great fun as tonight!
kk.. i'm dying. need sleep. tata!

cambodia... memories from (slightly more than) a year ago..
looking at photos from friends who were involved in overseas community involvement projects reminds me of the time i had in cambodia in Dec '06. memories flood my mind at this point of time.
the smiles on the children's faces when you played with them,
their laughter,
the (hum sap) monk with the "i love you" tatoo whom we taught was cute at first sight,
the classes where children ran to on sunday morning,
the talks in the nights under the uncountable stars,
the discussions held in the balcony of Mom's place,
the cold water baths in the dark with just gas lamps and torches,
the sarongs,
the beautiful sunset at Tonle Sap lake,
the Life Journeys where at the end always comes the most interesting questions that only people of PA8 will know,
the candles that lit up our little circle when we discussed stuff,
the uncountable number of mahjong paper we drew on,
the simple and cheap yet yummilicious food we had on the streets,
the lao sais and constipation cycles of each and every group member,
the cries of the pigs when they knew they were going to be slaughtered the very next minute,
the exit from the bus windows we made because the door was congested with our barang barang,
the mural paintings,
the morning exercises,
the counting of mosquito bites i had on my legs with the kids,
the walks to the market,
the stay with host families,
the naughty little flasher whom we all loved,
the attempts to communicate in the Khmer language with our little red/yellow book,
...
..
.

the list goes on and on, and the photos as well. Credits to Peihao for the wonderful capture of memories. Cambodia will always remind me of how fortunate i am and for that, i will always cherish what i have. I am glad that i am part of PA8. PA10 is coming. no chance for me to take part. maybe PA11? or some other project by other clubs.

the interview...
it has been a long day for me. but first and foremost, i would like to thank those who have wished me luck for my interview today.
with a wake up call at 5.30am from my dad, i aroused from my not-so-deep sleep and started preparing myself for my departure. my room's in a mess and everything's strewn all over cos i was sick the past two days and absolutely can't be bothered to keep anything tidy. i was like semi-asleep the whole of last night and when the phone rang, it was the dreaded feeling of "it's 5.30 already!?!??!"
anyway, everything went fine. left home in time, caught the bus, the train, the first transfer. BUT, the ICE train i took from Singen to Stuttgart was delayed. LUCKILY my train connection is ahead of schedule. Hung around Stuttgart Hbf for almost an hour before making my way to this stop called 'Lauda' and then transfered to Igersheim. (haha.. it sounds like 老大 right?)
anyway, when i arrived in Igersheim, it was 1.30 or so. one hour behind my scheduled arrival. it's a pity i didn't have my camera. the bahnhof (train station) did not even have a DB(Deutsche Bahn) Office!!!! the "station" was less 50m long! basically, it's the kind of small town whereby u just require 30 mins to finish walking the whole town.
there was no information post anywhere. thankfully, the small town still had a Rathaus (like town house), but it was closed at 12! the kind girl opened the door for me nevertheless.. (benefits of an asian face) and told me that Wittenstein is just round the corner. I was doubtful cos i saw on the map before that it ain't so close to the town. Then i whipped out my letter and she said.. OH! and after she pointed it out to me, i said OH!

but anyway, it's not walkable. the only way was to take a cab. cos the next bus was scheduled at 1558 (my interview was to be at 1500)
so i walked to the nearer (smaller) Wittenstein, and managed to get help from two ladies. Hitched a ride to the correct (humongous) Wittenstein.
Interview was ok. it's my first time and i didn't really know what to expect and stuff. but i must admit that i look forward to being part of their project. it sounds tough, but i am willing to take up the challenge. the thing is, i'm not the only asian on their interview list. after me was another chinese girl. and so, i have no idea what are my chances. i'll get my reply before the end of january.
ok. i am going to collapse. 10 hours of train ride in a day is no joke.

update
i've returned to Konstanz last friday and have been busy with unpacking my bag, packing my room, doing groceries, preparing for school and the most important thing, preparing for my internship interview.
there's so much to read about the company and it makes things even more difficult when the company deals with mechatronic drives systems, something foreign to me. for pple who still are unaware, i've not done physics since sec 2. so, i'm an idiot when it comes to all these engine stuff.
interview is gg to be on wed and i suay suay fell sick yesterday. like what i always say... when suayness hits,.... anyway, i am trying to do my best to keep my body fit and healthy to endure the 5 hours train ride there and to sit in front of a panel of 3. hopefully everything will work out fine. getting this internship will be the best 21st bday present ever.
all the best to me! i'll upload and blog abt eastern europe trip after the interview. everything is put on hold while i fight this first mighty barrier of 2008.
meanwhile, i just want to stop sneezing. damn.
